quKOAqesyfIqrQhITDepends on what species you are finhisg for. I fish for walleyes and muskies mainly and i never use anything smaller than my 7 and i have a 9 for muskies. The 9 makes it very effortless to do my figure 8 s and casts those big plugs a lot better and easier. You would be surprised how much a difference it is from 6'6 to a 7 . Once you use a longer rod you'll never go back. You will have a lot more control over your fish with a longer rod especially if you are catching big fish.
